It’s a real pleasure to watch the news on TV in the evenings. We just recently had the stunning Karina Carvalho start as anchorwoman for the 7pm ABC News in Queensland.

She is as talented as she is beautiful and she is also a fan of Daniel Bentley Jewellery. Karina has been wearing our South Atlantic and Grevillea collections during the news since starting last week.

“Geometric pieces are ageless and versatile, suiting any age and budget”, writes Westfield stylist Christie Nicolades. That’s something that I’d have to agree with, having been a fan of geometry in jewellery design for years. It’s something that features strongly in many of my collections over the decades.

The “Pacific” collier, featured in this recent Courier Mail article, is a clear example of how this style is timeless. Designed in 1998 whilst I was living in Denmark, the Pacific collection continues to seduce lovers of stylish adornments and will always have a place in the Daniel Bentley Jewellery range.

Recently we had the pleasure of supplying Karina Carvalho with jewellery to compliment her gorgeous gown for the 2013 Logie Awards (the Australian TV industry’s night of nights).

Karina wore Atlantic earrings, a stack of Utopia rings as well as the stunning Naya ring in white gold with pink pearl and diamonds. The picture says it all!

Christmas is finally here and the last pieces of jewellery have been finished and sent. Now is the time for us to stop, put our feet up, crack a bottle of champagne and reflect on 2012.

Whilst doing all of these things I turn on the TV this morning to the Today show and there is the lovely Deborah Knight, who is a Daniel Bentley fan, wearing our “Deanna” necklace, one of the 3 collections she has been wearing for the last 10 days. It’s great to see our designs on national television, especially on such a gorgeous woman. The response and interest for our designs has been fantastic.  What a way to finish the year!

It’s exciting when we start working on a new Daniel Bentley collection. It’s stressful though it’s a good kind of stress. We challenge ourselves to create something fantastic every time, something with a new look or a point of difference that will give us the wow factor we’re looking for.

I love the feeling when we know we’re on the right track, the adrenalin flows and the excitement builds. And then when we see the end result we step back to take it in…  because the new design has exceded our expectations and is a truly wonderful creation. We feel elated and proud.

This is what it was like to design and create the South Atlantic silver collection, which has just been released with its unique sculpturaI form and vivid specially cut gemstones I guess that when you go through the process you can’t help but become attached and end up falling in love with it!

Last week Daniel Bentley took part in Deloitte’s ‘Dress for Success’ Fashion Parade charity event to help raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The event was held at Oh Hello! in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. It was a great pleasure to bring jewellery to the show and donate two Daniel Bentley pieces. It was a highly successful night!

Meets Aussie Distinction

When you marry a Danish girl and move to Denmark, you can’t help but be overwhelmed by the quality and abundance of great design, reflects Australian jeweller, Daniel Bentley. It is Daniel’s love of the way Danish design breaks something down into its simplest form and works with it before decoration that has inspired his jewellery, even though his business is now based half way around the world in Australia.

After working for many years in Denmark designing and creating jewellery in his boutique, Daniel amassed a large collection of original designs. These were predominantly made of silver, which has always appealed to the Scandinavian market because of the clean lines, and exhibited an Australian influence and high quality craftsmanship.

“After moving back to Australia I saw an area in the jewellery trade that had been largely over looked,” explains Daniel. “I could see my more contemporary high-end silver designs working well here. So away we went!”

It’s very nice to see that we’re getting quite a lot of attention form the media here in Australia. It seems that it’s not only our jewellery designs but also the story behind the designers that is appealing, and why not…. it’s a good story!
